SUMMARY:RHYMES IMPROV'S (NEW) LEVEL ONE MUSICAL INTENSIVE - THE SCENE INTO THE SONG
DESCRIPTION:Have the most fun learning how to make songs up in the moment and create improvised scenes that turn into show stopping numbers. \nThis weekend intensive from Rhymes Improv will get to make your own kind of music – and sing your own songs. This course is designed to give you the skills to make up different styles of improvised songs with others and to deliver them with confidence. Sign up for a weekend of fun\, happening on Sat 20th and Sun 21st May 2023. \nWorking with your instructors\, you will explore how music can enhance the emotional content of scenes. \n Book Now  \nWhat you can expect:\nMusical exercises to help you with singing and melody\nHow to come up with lyrics that have impact\nExercises to help with rhyming\nEasy techniques to help with movement during musical numbers\nHow and when to transition from a scene into a song\nA fun\, encouraging environment \nPre-requisites:\nYou will need to have been improvising for a while (over six months)\, be confident in creating improvised scenes and will ideally have taken a beginners course with a reputable improv company (such as Nottingham Playhouse’s “Making It Up” 10 week course). \nAbout your trainers:\nLloydie James Lloydie is Artistic Director of Rhymes Improv. He has been improvising for 14 years and performs musical improv internationally. Lloydie trained in improv in New York and Chicago and performs regularly with Rhymes Against Humanity\, Brand New Musical (a two-person musical show influenced by the work of Sondheim) and The Clones. He is also the creator and facilitator of Nottingham Playhouse’s in-house improv programme “Making It Up”. \nSam Marshall is Musical Director of Rhymes Against Humanity. He has been a key musical influence in the company since joining in early 2017. His work has helped turn the company into a hugely successful entertainment product in the East Midlands. Sam is an accomplished improviser and is a founding member of Sci-Fi/Fantasy improv group Four Far Away. \nWhen:\nThe course runs for two days and will happen 11am – 5pm on both Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st May 2023. \nWhere:\nNonsuch Studios\, 92 Lower Parliament Street\, Nottingham. NG1 1EH \nInvestment:\n£127.00 \nWe believe improv is for everyone and so we offer two complete bursary places on this course. You can apply for one of the places if you are from an under-represented group in improv or would otherwise not be able to afford a place. We can award both of these places as soon as we have reached our minimum number of participants – on this course that minimum is nine.
